Broadleaf is owned and managed by Roderick Wiles.

 

For over a decade, Roderick has travelled and researched the hardwood markets of North America, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and India. He is a recognised authority on the trends and issues concerning the trade and consumption of wood products across these regions and beyond and an acknowledged expert on the uses and market applications of hardwood species and products. Working internationally, he specialises in hardwood market analysis and promotion and offers private confidential market analysis and marketing advice, on a long term or project basis to a wide range of government and corporate clients.

 

Since he started work as an independent forest industry consultant, he has provided various services to wood industry clients, including the American Hardwood Export Council, American Forest & Paper Association, American Softwoods, APA—The Engineered Wood Association, Canada Wood, Ghana Forestry Commission, International Tropical Timber Organisation (ITTO), the UK’s Timber Trade Federation and Institute of Wood Science and many private clients. He is an advisor to the UNECE/FAO Timber Committee, for whom he writes the Sawn Hardwood Chapter of the Forest Products Annual Market Review and a member of the Team of Specialists on Forest Products Markets & Marketing.

 

Aside from editing and publishing The Hardwood Journal, Roderick is also a regular contributor to a range of wood industry, market and design journals and he has addressed a number of conferences and seminars.

 

Between 1999 and 2003, he was Market Development Manager for the American Hardwood Export Council in London, where he had the specific task of spearheading AHEC’s promotional campaigns across the emerging markets of the Middle East, North Africa and India.
